Despite previous reports, Man United never left the race for Mount and used the Caicedo interest as a pressure for Chelsea to accept the current bid.
The English midfielder will have his medical early next week with the club’s official announcement to follow.
It is believed that the face-to-face meeting between the clubs acted as the crucial turning point for Chelsea to accept the bid.
Bayern Munich were never in the race despite Mount’s links with current boss Thomas Tuchel.
Mason is a Champions League winner and has also reached multiple finals with both Chelsea and England
