BREAKING: Man United Drop Mount Deal To Bid For Moises Caicedo?

As per Jonathan Northcroft of Times Sport, Manchester United are set to walk away from the signing of Mason Mount to pursue other targets with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo the top target.

Man United believe Chelsea’s £65m valuation of Mason Mount is unreasonable, especially with only one year left on his contract, and are wanting to abandon their attempt to sign him.

Brighton are believed to be valuing Caicedo at £80m which is significantly more than Man United’s final bid for Mason Mount which was tabled at £55m + £5 add-ons.

Man United are reportedly taking into account Caicedo’s younger age and differing contract situation when negotiating.

Back in Janaury 2021, Man United walked away from a £5m transfer of Moises Caicedo before he joined Brighton from then club Independiente del Valle in Ecuador.

Despite heavily scouting the player and reports suggesting he was “90%” a Man United player, the club decided to chase other targets.

Man United ended the window with the signing of Amad Diallo from Atalanta, a deal already agreed in the summer.

It is believed that Moises Caicedo will be happy to join Man United following a 2021 Athletic quote stating his dream to play for the club.

Man United are yet to make any signings this summer.
