Fiorentina are reportedly looking for £26m for the defensive midfielder who is thought to be a backup for Casemiro.
Similar to Mason Mount, who is set to have his medical for Man United today, Amrabat has only one year left on his contract.
The Moroccan, who was first given a chance at Utrecht under ten Hag, was a huge part of the Morocco side that historically reached the World Cup semi-finals in December of last year.
The 26-year-old was also a star player for Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final despite losing to West Ham.
Sofyan’s brother Nordin, who currently plays for Greek Side AEK Athens, has spoken about the potential move and says his sibling has “charmed” Erik ten Hag.
“He is doing well at Fiorentina. You are not going to trade Italy for the middle bracket of the Premier League,” Nordin said last month.
“My brother is 26 years old; he wants to go to the top. Of course, you never know it (Saudi Arabia) will be a strong competition when you see which names are going, but my brother now has the intention to play in the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think.
“I think in January (United showed interest), but ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible.
“But I know that ten Hag is charmed by my brother, he broke through under him and they have a good relationship, so who knows.”
