Manchester United are in the market for a striker after letting Wout Weghorst return to Burnley following his short loan at the club.
It is thought that Erik ten Hag’s main target was Harry Kane but Daniel Levy has priced him out of a move.
The Dutch manager has now highlighted the 20-year-old Danish as his key forward priority.
Hojlund has burst onto the scene this season netting nine goals and four assists in his first 32 appearances for Atalanta.
Including youth games, Hojlund has scored 44 goals in 116 games throughout his short career.
