Sir Jim Ratcliffe Interested In Buying Manchester United

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man according to Forbes, is keen in buying a stake in Manchester United with a view to long-term ownership.

It was also reported by Bloomberg that the Glazer Family are willing to sell a minor share in the English giants.

A spokesperson representing Ratcliffe stated the billionaire’s intentions with the club;

“If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer.

“If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership.”

Traction against The Glazers has yet again intensified following a percieved lack of investment over the summer transfer window.

The fanbase are planning a protest against the Glazers on Monday for the scheduled game against Liverpool.

United are currently sat bottom on the Premier League after losing their first two games of the season to Brighton and Brentford.

Frenkie De Jong has been pursued by United all summer but it looks as though the Barcelona midfielder won’t be joining the Red Devils, fuelling the frustration amongst fans.

Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) have welcomed this news albeit with a little caution.

A spokesperson from MUST has stated that while there is a call for change, it has to be the “right change”.

“Any prospective new owner has to be committed to the culture, ethos and best traditions of the club. They have to be willing to invest to restore United to former glories and that investment must be real new money spent on the playing side and the stadium.

“Finally, any new ownership structure must embed supporters, including a degree of fan share ownership, in their operating model.”
