The club has been searching for a permanent manager since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November last year.
Ten Hag has been managing Ajax for the past five years and has won two league titles with the Dutch club.
Erik’s style of play is similar to what Ralf Rangnick has tried to implement in his interim tenure which predominantly features gegenpressing.
It is believed that Ten Hag topped a four-man shortlist beating Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui to the job.
After a series of interviews, The Glazers, along with new club CEO Richard Arnold, feels Erik Ten Hag is the best option to become Red Devils manager.
Ralf Rangnick is also reported to be contributor to this decision.
It is rumoured that one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s first-team coaches Rene Meulensteen could return to the club as Ten Hag’s right hand man.
