Two of Manchester United’s senior players are set to be released from the club at the end of the season according to Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News. 

England internationals Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones haven’t played a minute of Manchester United football this season and are expected to leave the club in the summer.

Phil Jones, who is one of only two players remaining from United’s 2013 Premier League champions squad, has only started two games in three years for the club.

Due to an ongoing knee issue, Jones hasn’t trained all season and last appeared for United in a 15-minute cameo against Brentford at the end of last season.

Axel Tuanzebe hasn’t donned a United shirt since the 2021 Europa League final against Villarreal and has suffered with injuries since then.

The defender has just concluded his loan spell at Championship side Stoke City where he made four starts for the ‘Potters’.

However, Phil and Axel aren’t the only two players reportedly on the way out of the club.

22-year-old Northern Ireland international Ethan Galbraith, who has spent a year on loan at neighbours Salford City, has also been informed of his departure following a contract expiry this summer.

His only senior Manchester United apperance came in 2019 against Astana in the Europa League.

Academy prospects Charlie Wellens and Ondrej Mastny are also set to leave at the end of the season.
