United face competition for Varane
According to multiple reports circulating in the Spanish press, long time Manchester United target Raphael Varane has rejected a new contract offer at Real Madrid and is set to leave Los Blancos this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is looking for a long-term partner for Harry Maguire in the defensive line, having seemingly lost trust with Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
The World Cup winner is set to be available for €60million in this transfer window, however United does face strong competition for his services. Upon the news that the defender is set to leave, Paris Saint Germain is touted to be his favoured destination, with the Frenchman eyeing up a return to his home country.
A knock-on effect of Varane not signing a new deal is the position of Villareal’s Pau Torres. Various reports are indicating that the Spanish centre back, who was on the winning side against United in the Europa League final, has a release clause of €60million.
Torres is considered to be on the list of targets for Manchester United and also on the list for Real Madrid should they lose both Varane and Sergio Ramos as well during the window.
