Marcus Rashford has been awarded an MBE for his services towards the campaign to end child food poverty in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
The young Englishman has been at the forefront of the campaign to provided free school meal vouchers to over 1.3 million children over the coronavirus pandemic.
His open letter to the government resulted in a U turn and extension of the scheme during the summer.
The Man United player described the news as a very special moment for him as his family.
He joins a long list of great British personalities who have also been honoured in the list.
Joe Wicks, Mary Berry, Maureen Lipman, David Suchet and Lorraine Kelly are all celebrated for their respective services to their profession.
Rashford will continue to work with top supermarkets and food brands to form a child food poverty work force to provide as much free meals as possible for vulnerable children.
