Marcel Sabitzer Secures Loan Move To Man United

In the last few hours of the January Transfer Window, Manchester United have signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from FC Bayern.

Despite rumours earlier in the day, there is no option to buy once the loan expires in the summer.

News on a potential deadline day signing intensified early this afternoon when Erik ten Hag announced the longevity of Christian Eriksen’s injury.

The Danish international will be out until late April with an ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup last Saturday.

Sabitzer, an Austrian central midfielder, joins Wout Weghorst and Jack Butland as Man United’s winter signings.

All players have been brought into the club on loan deals as talk about a potential sale of the club increases.

Marcel Sabitzer, 28, started his career at Austrian club Admira Wacker II in 2010 before moving to the senior team in 2011.

In 2013 he joined Rapid Wien before starting his 7-year spell at RB Leipzig where he made his name as a solid European midfield option for any side.

Since 2021, Sabitzer has enjoyed a stint at German giants Bayern, racking up 40 appearances.

Marcel will be unavailable for selection against Nottingham Forest but could make his debut in the Premier League against Crystal Palace.
