Ralf Rangnick is set to be named Manchester United interim manager until the end of the season.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the club are in advanced talks with Rangnick but want to respect his current contract of Head of Sport Development at Lokomotiv Moscow.

Ralf Rangnick has expressed his desire to join Man United as interim manager until the end of the season and then retire to a backroom role as sporting director.

These demands seem to have been accepted by the club.

Rangnick will manage the side for 6 months before a 2 year contract in a consultancy role.

He favours a pressing style of football and has said to inspired current Premier League managers like Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.

Rangnick has previously managed Schalke, Hoffenheim and most notably RB Leipzig on two seperate occasions and has been been admried by the Man United fans ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking last weekend.

It is still expected that Michael Carrick will take charge of Man United for their cruical trip to Chelsea on Sunday due to a work permit issue but all going well Rangnick may be in charge for Arsenal next Thursday.

Former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde was tipped to become the new interim manager before this news broke but it looks like Rangnick is now the favourite for the role.

Man United remain keen on Mauricio Pochettino however the deal will have to wait til the summer.

It is expected that Ralf Rangnick will have a big say in who the next permanent manager of Manchester United will be.
