Man United Reach Agreement With Ajax For Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement to sign centre-back Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

The news was tweeted out at 3pm today;

An agreement has been reached for the transfer of Lisandro Martinez 🔴🇦🇷#MUFC || @LisandrMartinez

Despite this being reported a few days ago, the club have made it official baring a medical.

The initial fee is £46.8m plus £8.5m in add ons totalling the deal at £55.3m.

Martinez has signed a 5-year deal with an option to extend a year further.

Lisandro is not officially a Man United player but will be upon a successful completion of his medical.

Erik ten Hag identified Martinez as his choice for centre-back after working with him at Ajax.

Jurrien Timber acted as ten Hag’s first choice but opted to stay at Ajax.

The Argentine defender is a left footed ball playing centre-back that was a cruical part of ten Hag’s system at the Dutch side.

He is now the second most expensive defender in United history behind club captain Harry Maguire.
