Talks were believed to have started last July but a breakthrough in the negotiations was made two weeks ago.
While the salary isn’t confirmed it is thought to be around £200,000 a week which will see the Portuguese become the third highest paid player at the club.
Bruno first joined the club in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon and has recorded 49 goals and 39 assists since his arrival a little over two years ago.
This news, which we are still waiting for the club’s announcement for, might come as a shock as the new manager is yet to be announced.
It is believed Ajax’s Erik Ten Hag and PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino are the two frontrunners for the job however Luis Enrique is also reported to be in contention for the job.
We have seen an interim manager in Ralf Rangnick take charge of the club since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking in November on last year.
While Bruno Fernandes may not be hitting the heights this season, the news does come off of the back of a international brace in which he helped secure Portugal’s place in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
