Suspended Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been charged with three counts according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The three counts include attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Greenwood will appear in Greater Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

It was reported earlier today that the 21-year-old was arrested for an alleged breach of bail conditions.

The Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, Janet Potter has confirmed the charges upon Greenwood.

“CPS has authorised GMP to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, engaging in controlling + coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“All three counts relate to same complainant.”

Manchester United suspended Mason Greenwood in January following a release of potentially incriminating audio.

The Englishman has not played since.
