Man United Approach Marc Skinner For Women’s Coach Job
Man United Women have approached Orlando Pride with the aim of signing manager Marc Skinner.
Telegraph Sport broke the news that the two clubs were in negotiations for the manager earlier today.
He is targeted to replace Casey Stoney who resigned from the job in May and has since became manager of San Diego’s new NWSL team.
Skinner had previously managed in the Women’s Super League with Birmingham City before leaving for the US in January 2019.
Birmingham saw signifcant improvements under his reign where he elevated them to 4th in the WSL behind big hitters Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City before departing.
Similar miracles will need to be performed to get United into the conversation with the aforementioned teams.
Orlando Pride currently sit fifth in the NWSL, three points behind league leaders Portland Thorns.
Although it hasn’t always be good fortunes for Skinner as Pride finished rock bottom last season during Covid-19 disruptions.
United remain confident they can get their man and break him in as Women’s head coach before the start of the new WSL season on 3rd September, a season mostly covered on Sky Sports after a new three-year deal was agreed this summer.
