Sheikh Jassim Makes Late “Take It Or Leave It” Bid For Manchester United

Two and a half weeks after the “final” bid deadline, Sheikh Jassim has made an eleventh-hour “take it or leave it” proposal to buy 100% of Manchester United Football Club.

The offer is thought to be a dramatic increase from his previous bid and is reported at around £5bn but still falls short of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s valuation of the club.

Manchester-born Ratcliffe’s bid is for part-ownership resulting in Joel and Avram Glazer staying at the club.

Reports suggest that Sir Jim is willing to let the Glazers leave after three further years at the helm when he buys the rest of their stake in United.

The club’s debt of around £536m will be clear from the takeover if Jassim was to win as the Qatar billionaire has also promised significant investment in the club’s infrastructure.

This bid will extend the process further continuing to shroud the summer transfer window in doubt.
