Another week down in the rollercoaster journey that is Manchester United Football Club. The week started with everybody’s favourite agent, Mino Raiola, ruining our lives with the statement that Paul Pogba is over at Man United. We then had that shadow looming over Germany where United crashed out of the Champions League with an embarrassing 3-2 defeat to Leipzig.

But while the feeling of depression is still very present, Ole and his men host local rivals Manchester City who aren’t exactly flying themselves. This is a game that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must win in order to brush those sacking rumours to one side, for now at least.

So, lets preview the Manchester derby which is a must win for both sides of the northern city.

Last Meeting

There are a few reasons why the last Manchester derby was one not to forget. It was the final league match for both teams before the lockdown and the last match with fans in the grounds however with Manchester being in tier 3, no fans will be in attendance for this hotly anticipated encounter.

A goal from Anthony Martial before a late screamer from Scott Mctominay sealed a big derby win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the red side of Manchester. Here’s hoping history can repeat itself albeit in front of 70,000 less fans.

Man United Team News

‘The Red Devils’ seem to be back to full strength with Luke Shaw returning in Tuesday’s loss to Leipzig and Martial and Cavani both back in training in the week. The only injury is Phil Jones, which is about as expected as Harry Maguire starting.

Starting XI

Following the UCL exit, De Gea seems to be the one that has been thrown under the bus while we are led to believe our club captain Harry Maguire is the perfect centre back. Despite condeding a fair few amount of goals, the Spaniard hasn’t been at fault for many of them, so I see no reason into why we are piling the blame onto our keeper who has been a great servant at the club for many years.

The likely line-up is shown below:

Man City Team News

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Sergio Aguero won’t play this game but when has his word been gospel? Eric Garcia is the only real notable injury for ‘The Citizens’ who apart from that seem to be full strength.

The line-up predicted for Man City is seen below:

Prediction

As previously stated, this is a must win game for both sides so both will turn up for the occasion. I’m playing safe and going for a 2-2 draw.

COME ON UNITED!
