The second international break of the season is in the rear-view mirror and focus shifts towards a tough fixture list for Manchester United.

Following on from a disappointing 14 points from 21, pressure is building around Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team with a difficult set of matches in order to turn fortunes around.

The beginning of this period is a trip to Leicester to face a usually consistent Brendan Rodgers side who have started the season poorly, taking just 8 points from 7 games.

So who will really get their season going in a big game this Saturday?

Last Meeting – Manchester United 1-2 Leicester City

Premier League recap: Man United 1-2 Leicester City

The last meeting between these two sides ended in defeat for a makeshift United side. This game acted as a sacrifice following on from a congested fixture list caused by the Old Trafford Glazer Out protests ahead of the Liverpool game.

Leicester opened the scoring with a belter from English left back Luke Thomas before fellow international Mason Greenwood levelled it for the red side of Manchester.

The winning goal came from Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu who headed home all 3 points for the Foxes.

The game saw youngsters like Amad Diallo, Anthony Elanga and Axel Tuanzebe start.

Manchester United Team News

Man United are coming out of the international break with a few injury concerns.

French international Raphael Varane sustained a groin injury in the UEFA Nations League final last Sunday and is set to miss the next “few weeks”.

His fellow centre back partner Harry Maguire is also a major doubt for the game following his injury picked up against Aston Villa.

The only other injury doubt is Amad Diallo, whose injury stopped a loan move away from the club, but the Ivorian is on the recovery table and could be back any time now.

An ongoing issue with South American clubs could force United’s Fred out of the match.

Brazil play Uruguay 36 hours before United kick-off against Leicester but Premier League clubs are trying to find loopholes to try and get their South Americans back for the weekend fixtures however quarantine restrictions may prohibit that.

Marcus Rashford is officially deemed fit enough to start against Leicester following his summer shoulder surgery and is set to make his season debut on Saturday.

The Foxes are without young defending superstar Wesley Fofana, who will be out for the majority of the season after picking up an injury in pre-season.

James Justin and Nampalys Mendy are also out with injury while former Man United defender Jonny Evans is fit for the first time this campaign and may be drafted into a defence that has struggled so far this season.

Both sides have their own defensive worries so I can see a goal filled game. I nearly went with a 1-1 but with the boost of Marcus Rashford coming back into the fold and Cristiano Ronaldo coming off of an international hattrick for Portugal, I can see United nicking it in a close encounter.
