Lee Grant Signs One Year Contract Extension
Man United goalkeeper Lee Grant has signed a new one year contract with the club.
Grant, 38, signed for United from Stoke in 2018 and has since had a limited role between the sticks.
Lee then signed a one year extension in March 2020 which took him to the end of this past season.
“I was always very, very hopeful that I could extend my stay for another year and thankfully the club have allowed me to do that” says Grant.
“I think feeling valued and enjoying your role is huge, no matter what line of work you’re in, and obviously fortunate that I’ve got the opportunity to do that at such a wonderful club. I’m really looking forward to another year with the lads.”
With the free signing of Tom Heaton from Aston Villa, Lee Grant’s future seems doubtful despite the contract extension and this may give us a hint into the plans regarding both David De Gea and Dean Henderson this summer.
Reports have suggested that Lee Grant and Juan Mata, who signed a one year extension earlier today, are being looked at as potential behind the scenes members of the club once their respective new contracts expire next year.
Grant’s last match for United came against FC Astana in the Europa League in November 2019.
