Dele Alli Given One Match Ban Over Coronavirus Video
Dele Alli is set to miss the Tottenham’s returning clash with Man United after receiving a one match ban because of a coronavirus related social media post back in February.
The FA has punished Alli, 24, for a video put on Snapchat in February where he appears to joke about the Covid 19 outbreak by mocking an Asian man.
The Tottenham midfielder has also been fined £50,000 and has been ordered to undertake an education course.
In response to the suspension, Dele Alli said he would like to apologise for any offence caused by his behaviour.
“It was extremely poorly judged joke about a virus that has now affected us more than we could have ever imagined”.
The England International has also thanked the FA for not judging the video to be racist as Alli confirms he “despises racism of any kind”.
The FA initially decided that the Snapchat video didn’t breached any rules or codes however it was later found that I had by an independent Regulatory Commission.
The midfielder is a key part to the Tottenham side so it will be a big miss for Mourinho’s team in a game that could have major implications into the Top 4 race.
